Important FYI’s

  1. If you need to take any of your five sick days to care for a family member, you do NOT need to fill out ANY forms. However, when you call the substitute line, you must state your name, your building, the date of absence(s), reason for absence (to care for a family member), and if a substitute is needed.
  2. In the event you have any concerns to present to the MEA, please see your building representatives first so they may follow fact finding procedures. The building representatives will bring your concerns to Danielle or me for attention. If there is an emergency or a serious issue that you feel needs immediate attention, please do NOT hesitate to notify either of us.

Important Liability Information!!

Question: Am I liable if a child accidentally gets hurt?

Answer:    In Massachusetts, teachers, as public employees, generally will not be held liable if a student is accidentally injured during school activities. The key words are “during school activities.” Make sure that ANY activity-- whether on school grounds or not--has been cleared with your supervisor or principal. Teachers could be personally liable for “gross negligence” or reckless or intentional conduct that causes injuries at school, but fortunately these are rare cases.
